Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2020 Bonhams in Melbourne held the auction Australian Art | Modern to Contemporary, which included the work Go!, 1988 by James Gleeson. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 21,350.00 (€ 18,219.83) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by James Gleeson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Australian The Dream Of Icarus in April 2008 with an auction result of AUD 174,000.00 (€ 105,274.02).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2020 führte Bonhams in Melbourne die Auktion Australian Art | Modern to Contemporary durch, in der auch die Arbeit Go!, 1988 von James Gleeson zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von AUD 21.350,00 (€ 18.219,83) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Gleeson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Australian The Dream Of Icarus im April 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 174.000,00 (€ 105.274,02).
