In December 2021 Bonhams in London held the auction Prints and Multiples, which included the work The impeachment,-or-"the father of the gang, turnd Kings evidence.; Polonius. by James Gillray. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 956.25 (€ 1,140.61), 37% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Gillray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work ‘Consequences Of A Successful French Invasion... Or... We Fly On The Wings Of The Wind To Save The Irish Catholics From Persecution’ in March 2018 with an auction result of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 54,081.37).

Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 956,25 (€ 1.140,61) und damit 37% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Gillray erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ‘Consequences Of A Successful French Invasion... Or...
