Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Spanish-Patriots attacking the French-Banditti.- Loyal Britons lending a lift by James Gillray was auctioned at Bonhams in London in December 2021. The price achieved of GBP 573.75 (€ 684.36) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 500.00 – 700.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Gillray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work ‘Consequences Of A Successful French Invasion... Or... We Fly On The Wings Of The Wind To Save The Irish Catholics From Persecution’ in March 2018 with an auction result of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 54,081.37).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 573,75 (€ 684,36) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 500,00 – 700,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Gillray erzielen.
