This artwork by James Gillray achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in December 2021. In the Prints and Multiples auction, the work Phaeton alarm'd! sold for GBP 4,590.00 (€ 5,474.91) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00. Admittedly, works by James Gillray have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work ‘Consequences Of A Successful French Invasion... Or... We Fly On The Wings Of The Wind To Save The Irish Catholics From Persecution’ in March 2018 with an auction result of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 54,081.37).

Dieses Kunstwerk von James Gillray erzielte im Dezember 2021 bei Bonhams in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Prints and Multiples wurde die Arbeit Phaeton alarm'd! für GBP 4.590,00 (€ 5.474,91) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 2.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Gillray auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit ‘Consequences Of A Successful French Invasion... Or... We Fly On The Wings Of The Wind To Save The Irish Catholics From Persecution’ im März 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 47.500,00 (€ 54.081,37).
