Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Patriotic-Petitions on the Convention. by James Gillray was sold in the Prints and Multiples auction at Bonhams in London in December 2021. It achieved a price of GBP 956.25 (€ 1,140.61), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 20%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Gillray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work ‘Consequences Of A Successful French Invasion... Or... We Fly On The Wings Of The Wind To Save The Irish Catholics From Persecution’ in March 2018 with an auction result of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 54,081.37).

Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 956,25 (€ 1.140,61) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 20%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Gillray erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ‘Consequences Of A Successful French Invasion... Or...
