Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Counsellor O.P, - defender of our Theatric Liberties.; A Calm by James Gillray was sold in the Prints and Multiples auction at Bonhams in London in December 2021. The price achieved of GBP 612.00 (€ 729.99) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 500.00 – 700.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Gillray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work ‘Consequences Of A Successful French Invasion... Or... We Fly On The Wings Of The Wind To Save The Irish Catholics From Persecution’ in March 2018 with an auction result of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 54,081.37).
