Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2008 Christies in New York held the auction Maritime Art Including Fine Paintings, Nautical Antiques, Scrimshaw And Ship Models, which included the work Sails & Steam, 1888 by James Gale Tyler. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 21,250.00 (€ 14,318.44) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Gale Tyler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work New York Yacht Club Racing Boats In New York Harbor in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 162,500.00 (€ 153,853.44).

Im Januar 2008 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Maritime Art Including Fine Paintings, Nautical Antiques, Scrimshaw And Ship Models durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sails & Steam, 1888 von James Gale Tyler zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 21.250,00 (€ 14.318,44) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Gale Tyler erzielen.
