This artwork by James Gale Tyler achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in February 2012. In the Christie's Interiors auction, the work A square rigged ship at sea sold for USD 8,750.00 (€ 6,549.89) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Gale Tyler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work New York Yacht Club Racing Boats In New York Harbor in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 162,500.00 (€ 153,853.44).
