Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work Fishing at night by James Gale Tyler for USD 125.00 (€ 84.23). This price was achieved in the auction Maritime Art Including Fine Paintings, Nautical Antiques, Scrimshaw And Ship Models at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Gale Tyler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work New York Yacht Club Racing Boats In New York Harbor in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 162,500.00 (€ 153,853.44).
