Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Lillian by James Carroll Beckwith was sold in the Interiors: Fine Art Online auction at Christies in New York in June 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,250.00 (€ 2,875.85) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Carroll Beckwith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Study With Sunlight in November 2016 with an auction result of USD 125,000.00 (€ 118,169.79).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of Lillian von James Carroll Beckwith wurde im Juni 2019 in der Auktion Interiors: Fine Art Online bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 3.250,00 (€ 2.875,85) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Carroll Beckwith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Study With Sunlight im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 125.000,00 (€ 118.169,79).
