This artwork by James Barry achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in September 2016. In the Brian Sewell - Critic & Collector auction, the work Saint Sebastian sold for GBP 27,500.00 (€ 31,848.42) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Barry - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Seated male nude, which sold at auction in September 2016 for GBP 87,500.00 (€ 101,335.87).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 83 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von James Barry erzielte im September 2016 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Brian Sewell - Critic & Collector wurde die Arbeit Saint Sebastian für GBP 27.500,00 (€ 31.848,42) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 15.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von James Barry mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Seated male nude beobachtet, die im September 2016 für GBP 87.500,00 (€ 101.335,87) versteigert wurde.
