Auction result misses estimated price range
In July last year a collector was able to acquire the work Jupiter and Juno on Mount Ida by James Barry for GBP 2,772.00 (€ 3,310.26). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master and British Works on Paper: Drawings, Watercolours and Prints 1500-1900 at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Barry achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Seated male nude in September 2016 with an auction result of GBP 87,500.00 (€ 101,335.87).
