Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Orpheus by James Barry was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2005. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 720.00 (€ 1,061.78) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Barry achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Seated male nude in September 2016 with an auction result of GBP 87,500.00 (€ 101,335.87).
