Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In January 2024 Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction Prints & Multiples, which included the work The Russian Schube by James Abbott McNeill Whistler. The »bidding war« ended at USD 2,432.00 (€ 2,125.50), 22% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Abbott McNeill Whistler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Whistler Smoking in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,200,000.00 (€ 1,063,170.02).
