Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Grapes, peaches, sweetcorn, a pineapple, poppies and other fruit and flowers in a wicker basket on a ledge by Jacobus Linthorst was auctioned at Christies in July this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 5,040.00 (€ 5,880.15). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacobus Linthorst achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A crown imperial lily, tulips, hydrangea, lilac, an iris, paeonies, auricola, convolvuli and other flowers in an urn with a spray of roses on a marble pedestal; and Grapes, plums, wild strawberries, daisies, roses, and corn in a basket with a melon, in July 2000 with an auction result of GBP 102,750.00 (€ 166,14
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A crown imperial lily, tulips, hydrangea, lilac, an iris, paeonies, auricola, convolvuli and other flowers in an urn with a spray of roses on a marble pedestal; and Grapes, plums, wild strawberries, daisies, roses, and corn in a basket with a melon, im Juli 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 102.750,00 (
