This artwork by J. Sultan Ali achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in March 2017. In the Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art auction, the work Untitled (Pink City) sold for USD 9,375.00 (€ 8,763.32) - well above the upper estimate of USD 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by J. Sultan Ali have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Vanraj-Nandi in March 2021 with an auction result of USD 47,880.00 (€ 40,773.23).

Dieses Kunstwerk von J. Sultan Ali erzielte im März 2017 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art wurde die Arbeit Untitled (Pink City) für USD 9.375,00 (€ 8.763,32) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 5.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von J. Sultan Ali auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Vanraj-Nandi im März 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 47.880,00 (€ 40.773,23).
