This artwork by J. Sultan Ali achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in September 2020. In the Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art auction, the work Fisher Women sold for GBP 9,450.00 (€ 10,420.16) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by J. Sultan Ali - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Vanraj-Nandi, which sold at auction in March 2021 for USD 47,880.00 (€ 40,773.23).

Dieses Kunstwerk von J. Sultan Ali erzielte im September 2020 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art wurde die Arbeit Fisher Women für GBP 9.450,00 (€ 10.420,16) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 5.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von J. Sultan Ali mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Vanraj-Nandi beobachtet, die im März 2021 für USD 47.880,00 (€ 40.773,23) versteigert wurde.
