The work Old Shepherd by J. Sultan Ali was sold in the Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art auction at Sothebys in New York in March 2020. The »bidding war« ended at USD 15,000.00 (€ 13,600.51), 25% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by J. Sultan Ali - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Vanraj-Nandi, which sold at auction in March 2021 for USD 47,880.00 (€ 40,773.23).

Die Arbeit Old Shepherd von J. Sultan Ali wurde im März 2020 in der Auktion Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 15.000,00 (€ 13.600,51) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von J. Sultan Ali mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Vanraj-Nandi beobachtet, die im März 2021 für USD 47.880,00 (€ 40.773,23) versteigert wurde.
