Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by J. Sultan Ali achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in March 2020. In the Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art auction, the work Puja sold for USD 18,750.00 (€ 17,000.63) - well above the upper estimate of USD 8,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by J. Sultan Ali - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Vanraj-Nandi, which sold at auction in March 2021 for USD 47,880.00 (€ 40,773.23).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von J. Sultan Ali erzielte im März 2020 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art wurde die Arbeit Puja für USD 18.750,00 (€ 17.000,63) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 8.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von J. Sultan Ali mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Vanraj-Nandi beobachtet, die im März 2021 für USD 47.880,00 (€ 40.773,23) versteigert wurde.
