Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Shankara by J. Sultan Ali was sold in the Contemporary Art Asia: Including a Collection of Works by Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita auction at Christies in New York in September 2019. It achieved a price of USD 9,375.00 (€ 8,596.97), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 17%. Admittedly, works by J. Sultan Ali have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Vanraj-Nandi in March 2021 with an auction result of USD 47,880.00 (€ 40,773.23).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Shankara von J. Sultan Ali wurde im September 2019 in der Auktion Contemporary Art Asia: Including a Collection of Works by Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita bei Christies in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 9.375,00 (€ 8.596,97) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 17%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von J. Sultan Ali auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Vanraj-Nandi im März 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 47.880,00 (€ 40.773,23).
