Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art Online, which included the work Rahu- Vijaya by J. Sultan Ali. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 7,000.00 – 9,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,877.58) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by J. Sultan Ali have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Vanraj-Nandi in March 2021 with an auction result of USD 47,880.00 (€ 40,773.23).
