Auction result well in line with expectations
In June this year Bukowski in Stockholm held the auction Important Spring Sale, which included the work Dawn over Yalta by Ivan Aivazovsky. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of SEK 4,000,000.00 – 5,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of SEK 4,050,000.00 (€ 343,804.95) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ivan Aivazovsky achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work American Shipping Off The Rock of Gibraltar in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 2,708,000.00 (€ 4,018,535.80).
