This artwork by Ivan Aivazovsky achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in June 2021. In the Russian Pictures auction, the work Moonlight over the Dnieper sold for GBP 983,000.00 (€ 1,145,450.54) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 500,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ivan Aivazovsky - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work American Shipping Off The Rock of Gibraltar, which sold at auction in June 2007 for GBP 2,708,000.00 (€ 4,018,535.80).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 97 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Ivan Aivazovsky erzielte im Juni 2021 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Russian Pictures wurde die Arbeit Moonlight over the Dnieper für GBP 983.000,00 (€ 1.145.450,54) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 500.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Ivan Aivazovsky mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit American Shipping Off The Rock of Gibraltar beobachtet, die im Juni 2007 für GBP 2.708.000,00 (€ 4.018.535,80) versteigert wurde.
