Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2012 Christies in London held the auction Important Russian Art, which included the work Illustration for Contes de l'isba: Ivan-Tsarevich and the Firebird by Ivan Bilibin. The price achieved of GBP 61,250.00 (€ 75,453.79) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ivan Bilibin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Tsaritsa Militrissa, which sold at auction in November 2007 for GBP 150,500.00 (€ 210,738.94).
