Auction result well in line with expectations
The work An original design for a ceiling mural for the State Bank in Nizhny-Novgorod by Ivan Bilibin was sold in the Important Russian Art auction at Christies in London in November 2012. The price achieved of GBP 43,250.00 (€ 53,279.61) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ivan Bilibin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Tsaritsa Militrissa, which sold at auction in November 2007 for GBP 150,500.00 (€ 210,738.94).

Die Arbeit An original design for a ceiling mural for the State Bank in Nizhny-Novgorod von Ivan Bilibin wurde im November 2012 in der Auktion Important Russian Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 43.250,00 (€ 53.279,61) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Ivan Bilibin mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Tsaritsa Militrissa beobachtet, die im November 2007 für GBP 150.500,00 (€ 210.738,94) versteigert wurde.
