In October 2019 Christies in London held the auction Middle Eastern, Modern and Contemporary Art, which included the work In the Eye (from the Tall Al Zaatar series) by Ismail Shammout. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 20,000.00 (€ 23,198.57), 67% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Ismail Shammout have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Al- Tariq (The Way) in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 150,000.00 (€ 173,989.24).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 67 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2019 führte Christies in London die Auktion Middle Eastern, Modern and Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit In the Eye (from the Tall Al Zaatar series) von Ismail Shammout zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 20.000,00 (€ 23.198,57) und damit 67% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ismail Shammout auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Al- Tariq (The Way) im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 150.000,00 (€ 173.989,24).
