This price was achieved in the auction The Road to Rome: Property from a Distinguished Italian Private Collection, Part I at Sothebys in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 60,000.00 many times over. Admittedly, works by Ippolito Caffi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Veduta Di Piazza Navona, Roma in June 2007 with an auction result of EUR 1,588,800.00.
