Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2019 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master Paintings and Sculpture, which included the work A view of the Tiber with the Castello San Angelo and St Peter's; and A view of the Forum with the Arch of Constantine and the Temple of Venus and Rome by Ippolito Caffi. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 112,500.00 (€ 100,851.64) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ippolito Caffi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Veduta Di Piazza Navona, Roma in June 2007 with an auction result of EUR 1,588,800.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2019 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Master Paintings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit A view of the Tiber with the Castello San Angelo and St Peter's; and A view of the Forum with the Arch of Constantine and the Temple of Venus and Rome von Ippolito Caffi zur Versteigerung kam.
