Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Italian the Benediction Of Pius Ix In St Peter'S Square, Rome by Ippolito Caffi was sold in the 19th Century European Paintings auction at Sothebys in London in December 2016. It changed hands for a price of GBP 75,000.00 (€ 87,687.17) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ippolito Caffi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Veduta Di Piazza Navona, Roma in June 2007 with an auction result of EUR 1,588,800.00.
