An album of pictures based on paintings by Ike no Taiga (1723-1776); preface signed Kotei rojin Minamoto Shien sen and dated Kyowa 3 (1803), eleventh month; orihon, 1 vol., woodblock printed in color, pale brown paper wrappers, title slip printed as above--very good impression and color, some worm holes
Contents: 33 leaves unnumbered, 1 p. blank, 6 pp. preface signed and dated as above and with two seals, 1 double-page calligraphy, 22 double-page illustrations of landscapes and figures, 3 pp. postface signed Kyuka Sansho sha, sealed Ike no Arina and Kyuka Sanjin, 1 p. postface signed Shinryu and sealed Geppo, 2pp. postface signed Tosho, sealed Kai no in and Chuzo, and dated Mizunoe-i (1803) eighth month, 4 pp. postface signed Minagawa Gen sho, sealed Minagawa Gen and Hakkyo uji and dated Kyowa 3 Mizunoe-i (1803), colophon inscribed Higashiyama Taigado zohan (blocks owned by Taigado in Higashiyama) and sealed in red Taigado shozo ki (Seal of the Taigado collection)

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Taigado gafu (Picture album of Taiga) by Ike Taiga was sold in the Japanese and Korean Art auction at Christies in New York in September 2007. The price achieved of USD 9,375.00 (€ 6,593.29) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Admittedly, works by Ike Taiga have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Shun'un shusshu (Mountain peak in spring haze) in March 2003 with an auction result of USD 50,190.00 (€ 46,045.87).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Taigado gafu (Picture album of Taiga) von Ike Taiga wurde im September 2007 in der Auktion Japanese and Korean Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 9.375,00 (€ 6.593,29) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ike Taiga auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Shun'un shusshu (Mountain peak in spring haze) im März 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 50.190,00 (€ 46.045,87).
