This artwork by Humphrey Spender achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2004. In the 20th Century British Art auction, the work Blackriver Pool sold for GBP 537.75 (€ 812.66) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 300.00. Admittedly, works by Humphrey Spender have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sails At Rab in March 2008 with an auction result of GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,967.18).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 79 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Humphrey Spender erzielte im Juli 2004 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century British Art wurde die Arbeit Blackriver Pool für GBP 537,75 (€ 812,66) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 300,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Humphrey Spender auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sails At Rab im März 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.750,00 (€ 5.967,18).
