Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Merchant by Hugo Wilson was worth GBP 30,240.00 (€ 35,462.67) to a buyer in July 2021. This price was achieved in the auction New Now at Phillips in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Hugo Wilson; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Hunt 7 sold at auction in September 2021 with the realized price of GBP 60,480.00 (€ 70,369.32).
