Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Hubert Cornish could be acquired at Christies in London in July 2018 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours auction, the work Washerman's Tank on the Russapuglah Road, Calcutta changed hands for GBP 750.00 (€ 840.91) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hubert Cornish achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lady Teignmouth's Garden House on the banks of the Hooghly, Calcutta. in September 2000 with an auction result of GBP 6,462.50 (€ 10,813.74).
