Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Indian Sketches by Hubert Cornish was worth GBP 2,375.00 (€ 2,733.16) to a buyer in April 2010. This price was achieved in the auction Travel, Science and Natural History at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 700.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Hubert Cornish - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Lady Teignmouth's Garden House on the banks of the Hooghly, Calcutta., which sold at auction in September 2000 for GBP 6,462.50 (€ 10,813.74).
