In September 2019 Christies in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Asia: Including a Collection of Works by Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita, which included the work Chinese Landscape: Tattoo by Huang Yan. The »bidding war« ended at USD 3,000.00 (€ 2,751.03), 50% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Huang Yan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tattoo Series, Plants in February 2007 with an auction result of GBP 28,800.00 (€ 42,694.97).
