The work Calligraphy Couplet In Kaishu by Hua Shikui was worth HKD 200,000.00 (€ 18,601.30) to a buyer in April 2014. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Paintings at Sothebys in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 60,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Hua Shikui; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Calligraphy Couplet In Regular Script sold at auction in March 2015 with the realized price of USD 32,500.00 (€ 30,257.89).
