This artwork by Horace Hone achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2008. In the Important Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes auction, the work A young gentleman called R. Harmsworth, in blue coat with large silver buttons, buff-coloured waistcoat and knotted white cravat with pleated jabot, grey-powdered wig; sky background sold for GBP 5,250.00 (€ 5,514.03) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Horace Hone - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of Sir William Forbes, 6Th Bt. Of Pitsligo (1739-1806), which sold at auction in March 2017 for GBP 11,875.00 (€ 13,916.33).

Für andere Arbeiten von Horace Hone mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait Of Sir William Forbes, 6Th Bt. Of Pitsligo (1739-1806) beobachtet, die im März 2017 für GBP 11.875,00 (€ 13.916,33) versteigert wurde.
