In December 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master and British Works on Paper, including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection, which included the work Portrait of a lady, traditionally identified as Lady Rachael Tweeke by Horace Hone. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,386.00 (€ 1,548.29), 54% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Horace Hone have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Sir William Forbes, 6Th Bt. Of Pitsligo (1739-1806) in March 2017 with an auction result of GBP 11,875.00 (€ 13,916.33).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 54 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master and British Works on Paper, including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a lady, traditionally identified as Lady Rachael Tweeke von Horace Hone zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.386,00 (€ 1.548,29) und damit 54% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Horace Hone auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait Of Sir William Forbes, 6Th Bt. Of Pitsligo (1739-1806) im März 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 11.875,00 (€ 13.916,33).
