Auction result well in line with expectations
The work I Dreamt that I was Hung Upside Down to Listen to Huizong Play the Zither with Chairman Mao by Hong Lei was sold in the Asian Contemporary Art (Day Sale) auction at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2010. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 50,000.00 – 100,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 57,500.00 (€ 5,681.19) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Hong Lei have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Speak, Memory in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 18,500.00 (€ 23,532.81).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit I Dreamt that I was Hung Upside Down to Listen to Huizong Play the Zither with Chairman Mao von Hong Lei wurde im November 2010 in der Auktion Asian Contemporary Art (Day Sale) bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 50.000,00 – 100.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von HKD 57.500,00 (€ 5.681,19) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Hong Lei auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Speak, Memory im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 18.500,00 (€ 23.532,81).
