Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Herman Saftleven could be acquired at Christies in Paris in July this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Remastered: Old Masters from the Collection of J.E. Safra - Selling Without Reserve auction, the work An extensive river landscape with figures outside a tavern, a fortified castle on a hilltop beyond changed hands for GBP 18,900.00 (€ 22,050.57) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Admittedly, works by Herman Saftleven have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Landscape With Travelers in January 2008 with an auction result of USD 265,000.00 (€ 178,559.40).
