Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Private In The Gordon Highlanders by Hermanus Willem Koekkoek was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,750.00 (€ 4,400.59). Admittedly, works by Hermanus Willem Koekkoek have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Hussars in October 2006 with an auction result of EUR 38,400.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A Private In The Gordon Highlanders von Hermanus Willem Koekkoek im Januar 2017 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 4.750,00 (€ 4.400,59) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Hermanus Willem Koekkoek auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Hussars im Oktober 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 38.400,00.
