The work Hagar and the Angel in an extensive landscape by Herman van Swanevelt was sold in the Old Master Paintings and Sculpture Online auction at Christies in New York in January this year. It achieved a price of USD 30,240.00 (€ 27,850.43), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 51%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Herman van Swanevelt - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An Italianate landscape with a drover, cattle and washer women, a bridge and a hill top temple beyond, which sold at auction in March 2000 for GBP 43,300.00 (€ 72,009.88).

Die Arbeit Hagar and the Angel in an extensive landscape von Herman van Swanevelt wurde im Januar diesen Jahres in der Auktion Old Master Paintings and Sculpture Online bei Christies in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 30.240,00 (€ 27.850,43) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 51%. Für andere Arbeiten von Herman van Swanevelt mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit An Italianate landscape with a drover, cattle and washer women, a bridge and a hill top temple beyond beobachtet, die im März 2000 für GBP 43.300,00 (€ 72.009,88) versteigert wurde.
