Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December 2018 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Day Sale, which included the work Joseph Sold By His Brothers by Herman van Swanevelt. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 16,250.00 (€ 18,103.94). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Herman van Swanevelt - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An Italianate landscape with a drover, cattle and washer women, a bridge and a hill top temple beyond, which sold at auction in March 2000 for GBP 43,300.00 (€ 72,009.88).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen

Für andere Arbeiten von Herman van Swanevelt mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit An Italianate landscape with a drover, cattle and washer women, a bridge and a hill top temple beyond beobachtet, die im März 2000 für GBP 43.300,00 (€ 72.009,88) versteigert wurde.
