This artwork by Henry Tonks achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May 2004. In the Irish and 20th Century British Art auction, the work Resting among the sand hills sold for GBP 1,792.50 (€ 2,689.41) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,000.00. Admittedly, works by Henry Tonks have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Study for 'An Advanced Dressing Station in France' in June 2018 with an auction result of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,301.70).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 79 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Henry Tonks erzielte im Mai 2004 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Irish and 20th Century British Art wurde die Arbeit Resting among the sand hills für GBP 1.792,50 (€ 2.689,41) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Henry Tonks auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Study for 'An Advanced Dressing Station in France' im Juni 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 10.000,00 (€ 11.301,70).
