Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The tea tray by Henry Tonks was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,541.60). Admittedly, works by Henry Tonks have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Study for 'An Advanced Dressing Station in France' in June 2018 with an auction result of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,301.70).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The tea tray von Henry Tonks im Dezember 2012 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.250,00 (€ 1.541,60) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Henry Tonks auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Study for 'An Advanced Dressing Station in France' im Juni 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 10.000,00 (€ 11.301,70).
