Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Important British Paintings, which included the work Portrait Of Jane 'Jenny' Myddelton, Mrs May (1661-1740) As A Shepherdess by Henri Gascars. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 14,220.38) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Henri Gascars have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Jacques De Goyon Iii (1644-1725), Sire De Matignon, Comte De Thorigny, Lieutenant Général Des Armées in January 2017 with an auction result of USD 150,000.00 (€ 138,966.09).
