Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Taisho era (1912-1926), dated 1920 by Hashiguchi Goyo was auctioned at Bonhams in London in November 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,912.50 (€ 2,245.45). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hashiguchi Goyo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Taisho era (1912-1926), 1915 in September 2020 with an auction result of USD 40,075.00 (€ 34,199.52).
