A large tate-e keyblock proof print of Futokoro kagami (A Pocket Mirror), depicting a woman in kimono looking into a mirror, a black cat sleeping behind her, dated and signed Taisho kyunen kugatsu Goyo ga (September, Taisho 9 [1920], painted by Goyo) with artist's rectangular seal Goyo on the lower right, the square family seal Hashiguchi and printer's seal Suri Hirai Koichi (Printer Hirai Koichi) and a further seal on the lower left; on verso a limited edition seal Hyaku gojubu genteiban, dai [...] go (Limited edition of 150, unnumbered), followed by publisher's seal Goyo hanga kenkyujo no in (Seal of the Goyo Prints Research Association). 46.3cm x 30cm (18¼in x 11 9/16in).

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Showa era (1926-1989), circa 1950 by Hashiguchi Goyo was auctioned at Bonhams in London in November 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,020.00 (€ 1,197.58) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hashiguchi Goyo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Taisho era (1912-1926), 1915 in September 2020 with an auction result of USD 40,075.00 (€ 34,199.52).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Showa era (1926-1989), circa 1950 von Hashiguchi Goyo kam im November 2021 bei Bonhams in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.020,00 (€ 1.197,58) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Hashiguchi Goyo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Taisho era (1912-1926), 1915 im September 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 40.075,00 (€ 34.199,52).
