woodcut, circa 1512-16, on laid paper, with an unidentified watermark, a good impression, with narrow margins, in very good condition; together with; 16th Century Italian School, The Conversation of Saint Paul (not in Bartsch), engraving, around 1525 (?), on laid paper, watermark Crossbow in Circle, a very rare and apparently unrecorded print, some minor paper losses above, paperloss in the upper image, otherwise in good condition

The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,541.60), 56% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hans Burgkmair the Elder achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Zwei Darstellungen des Heiligen Ulrich von Augsburg, um 1505/08. in September 2010 with an auction result of CHF 120,000.00 (€ 89,949.27).

Die Arbeit The Skill of the White King to deal with different Nations in Wartime, from: Der Weisskunig (B. 80-71) von Hans Burgkmair the Elder wurde im Dezember 2012 in der Auktion Old Master, Decorative, Modern & Contemporary Prints including an Important Private Collection by Lill Tschudi bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.250,00 (€ 1.541,60) und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Hans Burgkmair the Elder erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Zwei Darstellungen des Heiligen Ulrich von Augsburg, um 1505/08. im September 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von CHF 120.000,00 (€ 89.949,27).
