Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A sheet of sketches including figures at a parade and on horseback by Hablot Knight Browne was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2009, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 200.00 – 300.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 125.00 (€ 97.63). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hablot Knight Browne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Run with the Stag Hounds, including: Hold hard! Let the Hounds go first, if you please, Gentlemen; A Short cut to the Meet; Something wrong, as usual-lost shoes, stirrups, girth, &c.; Uncarting the Deer; Thrown Out. Have you seen the Hounds Sir? Co in December 2001 with an auction result of GBP 4,465.00 (€

Als die Arbeit A sheet of sketches including figures at a parade and on horseback von Hablot Knight Browne im Januar 2009 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 200,00 – 300,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 125,00 (€ 97,63) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Hablot Knight Browne erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Run with the Stag Hounds, including: Hold hard!
